ATTN: All Windows XP users, it would be very wise to read this (Re: WannaCrypt)

I'm sure you're all aware of the global ransomware crisis thats currently taking place. And as most of you probably know, the most at risk systems are those running older versions of microsoft's operating systems, including XP, and server 2003. Even more problematic is the people who either can't update their systems, or don't even know its still possible.

If you are still running Windows XP (My panasonic toughbook has XP Pro because the touchscreen drivers for windows 7 don't work properly), it is extremely recommended you read the info at this link, and follow the instructions. Yes! It is still possible to get Windows XP updates, all the way until 2019

In case you didn't know, toughbooks are quite expensive. $3,999 for a new one

I am aware. The department should be regularly updating its equipment nonetheless for this very issue... Imagine if NCIC was hacked into because they didn't update their software (and hardware as needed). Yikes

Why are you using a toughbook even the $300 Walmart specials have the same power as any of the non-current/new toughbooks

Because I like the touchscreen, direct sunlight readable display, intergrated carrying handle, and because a 2010 Spartan Metrostar MFD fire truck can run over it, and it would still be working flawlessly. How many of the walmart specials can do that? None.

and the second reason? because I'm a weirdo, and I saved up the $521 to purchase the refurbished CF-30 i currently own.
