[Suggestion] /r (/radio) in chat

Suggestion for (MTA, Forum, website): MTA

Suggestion: A chat command for messages that are radio traffic. Typing "/r 444 is 10-7 with 1 10-92 on board proceeding to station. will advise when clear and 10-8" into chat would make it output "RADIO: Unit 444 is 10-7 with 1 10-92 on board proceeding to station. will advise when clear and 10-8" (for those who don't know, that means I'm unavailable with 1 person in custody, transporting to station).

Why should this be added?: Sometimes I'd like to let the other officers know a more detailed description of my status, whether it be I'm hauling someone off to jail, or i'm not available as I am on a traffic stop, or whatever. With central, its pretty well simple preset messages. With this idea, other officers could acknowledge, and if say I am on a traffic stop, they could even ask if I'd like them to provide backup for me.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm sure people might say "is this really needed as it would just clog up the chat", and an Idea I had is maybe integrate it with the central HUD, but just change the text color to blue, or yellow, or something so you can tell if it's a central message, or a radio message. Also, you could even add in a short radio static sound to alert players to a radio transmission

Your "Other Comments" makes much more sense than adding it to mainchat. That's the reason why it was taken out as it was clogged and hard to follow. If possible, the color change in Central for /rd, /cm (cop message for those who don't get the reference) would be nice, but not a huge color change. I think Central is white now, so maybe a 50-70% grey, or flipping Central to a 40-50% grey and making /rd, /cm white. Still keeps urgent messages with colors that stand out visible.

-1 for adding it to mainchat, but +1 for the other comments

EDIT: On a side note, to play devil's advocate here, Central is already clogged with a bunch of messages (SUBJECT NEUTRALIZED / SUBJECT NEUTRALIZED / SUBJECT NEUTRALIZED) so if it's possible to reduce that or something that would be nice but as it is now, status updates (like I do - "10-6 at Dillimore PD", "10-95 x2 Flint County Sheriff's Office") would be fun to have.

If Street Brawl callout peds are killed the central will no longer transmit subject neutralized to prevent the spam. Other peds that are legitimate kills as well but are not related to that callout on the other hand will still trigger the message.

EDIT: Forgot to note that it's done for 1.0.17.

Bumping this to add...

MACH (http://www.iowadot.gov/TraCS/MACH.html) has AMAZING features and one of them being that users can set their status:

- 10-6 (Busy)

- 10-7 (Unavailable)

- 10-8 (Available)

As well as sub-status, which are optional

- Patrolling

- En-route

- Arrived at Scene

- Prisoner in Custody

- Travelling

- At Court

- At Hospital

- Break

- Traffic Stop

Those are all I can think of off the top of my head but are what I see troopers (and other officers) use most often.

If we're gonna use something like that, it should be free and open source, like "TicketsCAD". And I'm pretty certain it wouldn't be hard to somehow sync it up with the server so you could track officers location in real time. (The beauty of it being open source is you can edit the code to what suits you best. And as the real time tracking is already available for the webadmin resource, i can't see why it would be too dificult to adapt it to Tickets)

I've used tickets for some studying for my Emergency Telecommunications course, and it is really intuitive and feature rich.

My bad, I should have clarified as I was only looking for the statuses and substatuses to be added. The DOT definitely will NOT allow this to get into the hands of just anybody. I was just linking the website to give credit for where I got the idea.

Ohhhh, I see what you mean now. Incidentally when I was playing on MTA:RP, they had a script that had a panel where you could set your status almost exactly as you described, (as far as the 10-codes, and also having the sub-status ability). It was really useful when I was in the SAPD faction, so we could see what the other officers were doing, and it gave us an idea on who was available to provide backup if we needed it. That might be something we could look into

I like the idea, brings more realism and immersion playing the role of a cop, I don't mind it flooding the chat, it's a radio that's the point of it.

Maybe have it binded to the "teamsay" hotkey to send radio messages too?

Teamsay (Y) is used for local chat
