  1. So this is a thread to talk about your area's public safety agency response protocols. This includes Fire department, EMS, and police, as well as multi-agency (tiered) response. We all know different jurisdictions have different protocols, so it's interesting to see what the different protocols are for your area. To keep the thread clean, please use the following format City/Area name [spoiler][/spoiler]
  2. Not to mention as Blast3r[/member] has said many many times, this isn't a roleplay server XD
  3. Oh, Any vehicle I'd like to escape with. Well in that case, I'mma chose the Rhino. Go big or go home, thats what I always say
  4. For your viewing pleasure http://pogoarchives.org/m/dp/dp-predator.pdf
  5. realistically though, I'd love to see the hit and run pedestrian one a joint Police-EMS callout. Have it so when PD arrives on scene, it gives them a license plate number of the suspect vehicle, so the officer could go ahead and arrest the person for failure to remain. I'm not sure how hard that would be to script, but it could definately encourage people to play as both EMS and PD, instead of just one or the other
  6. I know this may not be of interest to some of you, but for others it may be very interesting. Around the world, more and more public safety agencies are starting to use encryption on their communications systems. What is ‘encrypted’ police communication? Police can encrypt their radio communication so their conversations cannot be monitored by outsiders. This affects citizens directly & indirectly including those that use police scanner radios to monitor broadcasts including the media, amateur radio hobbyists, citizens, & anyone who uses a scanner to hear what’s going on in their area in real time. Encryption of public airwaves by the government is a highly debated issued in the US & most states have some form of encryption. What’s encrypted varies from state to state (& sometimes county to county) all over the US as each state makes it’s own laws regarding encryption. Different types of encryption are out there. For instance, the Ontario Provincial Police employs tactical encryption. What this means is that not all communications are encrypted. Channels such as: Surviellance, as well as intelligence, are all encrypted. General patrol channels are not encrypted at all. Then you have areas like the Toronto Police service, where ALL TRAFFIC is encrypted. There are sometimes heated debates both for and against encryption. Reasons people are against encryption can be: › 1st Amendment › Government transparency › Citizens & media oversight › To allow citizens & off-duty public safety personnel to respond to emergencies › Backup & neighboring police officers receive delayed information › Inhibits the media’s ability to accurately report news in real time & inform citizens Common reasons FOR encryption: › Safety of law enforcement › Criminals monitor communication to avoid police. I personally am on both sides. As a hobbiest, I listen to the Ontario Provincial Police on my scanner a lot. I just find it interesting. I am not a criminal, nor am I a first responder. I can also say that being able to listen to the OPP more than likely saved my life on at least one occasion. I was on a road trip with my mother, and the weather was really bad. We stopped at a coffee shop for what we thought was just a washroom break. I had been listening to my scanner, and the OPP transmitted "Highway 23 is being shut down from Highway 80 to Elginfield due to whiteout conditions". Highway 23 is the main road my mom and I take to get back home. If it wasn't for the scanner, we could have gone back out on the road with no way of knowing how bad the conditions had have been, and wound up in a ditch. I understand the arguments for officer safety, especially with the mass shooting events as of late. However, having fully encrpyted systems is counter productive. When listening, it can help give the public the knowledge of places to avoid due to weather, ongoing situations, and other incidents. What the OPP have is the best of both worlds. They have the channels they can move to if there is legitimate concern for operational security or officer safety, but the general patrol communications are open. What are your thoughts about this? I know this can be a controversial topic (although what isn't nowdays), but it is an important discussion to have
  7. Suggestion for (MTA, Forum, website):MTA Suggestion: Additional EMS calls Why should this be added?: Would make things more dynamic for those of us who use the medical branch Anything else you'd like to add?: My ideas are: Unconscious person - Code 3 response - Immediate transport to hospital Decreased level of consciousness - Code 2 response - check vitals, transport to hospital Suicidal thoughts - Code 3 response - Transport to hospital Hit and run pedestrian - Code 3 response - Check vitals, make them random as far as heart rate and lungs, stabilize, transport to hospital
  8. While normally I would say this is Pay2Win, and should be avoided, I do support this for a couple of reasons. 1. The bonuses are minimal. They aren't over powered 2. They don't really give you any huge advantage over the other people, as in, its not giving you a minigun or some crap like that where you can just murder all the suspects. 3. I can see more people donating to the server knowing they will get the exp boost. I know Blast3r[/member] and I have had some in depth conversations in the past about the risk-to-reward conundrum regarding Pay2Win, and I also am well aware of web hosting costs. Not to mention the recent rash of DDOS attacks going on through the MTA community (for obvious reasons, I'm not going into any details about victims or perpertators), so I know based on SAPDFR's up time that their hosting solution must be good. Even though I cannot currently play in the server, I hope the $10 donation I'm going to make helps
  9. Suggestion for (MTA, Forum, website):MTA Suggestion: Change the spike strips from being in the player's inventory to being in the vehicle's inventory Why should this be added?: If you look in real life, you'll never see officer's just carrying spike strips around. Aside from looking very odd, chances of officer injury from puncture wounds from the spikes would be very high. What I'd like to see is any vehicle accesible by officers at Senior Lead (or whatever the first rank you get access to spikes) and above have 2 sets of spike strips in them, as usually departments have 2 sets of "Stop Sticks" mounted in the trunk Anything else you'd like to add?:Pretty please? Would free up my limited on-perosn inventory
  10. The reason for the "issue citation" thing being removed was because that script was never actually working. As far as the two options, if you look closely at the results, they are quite different. Here's just asking for ID https://i.imgur.com/my5GOJb.png' alt='IMGUR>'> And here's asking for driver's license https://i.imgur.com/hXSFaJ0.png' alt='IMGUR>'> As you can see, when you ask for a driver's license, it also show's you if the license is falid, if it's expired, or if its invalid. Asking for ID doesn't give you that. Having the status of the license can be useful in determining if you are going to let the person go, or if you are going to arrest them
  11. I can't remember who exactly was part of the convo, but yesterday we had a talk about which would you rather? Get shot with a taser, or be pepper sprayed. Seeing as I have had both happen to me (although the pepper spray was an environmental exposure, the spray was deployed in the room, but it still affected me) I would definately prefer a taser over the pepper spray. Judging by these reactions, what would you guys prefer? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsXCJl0hh34
  12. From what I could tell, there isn't even a drop off point in LV, or SF. I could be wrong tho. From what I know, LSPD HQ is the only drop off point
  13. Already done, actually by you http://forum.sapdfr.advanced-gaming.org/http://forum.sapdfr.advanced-gaming.org/sapdfr/forum-phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3 Oh yeah, forgot a bout that XD
  14. well guys, it turns out this mod would be pretty much useless for MTA, as it seems like it only modify's the CJcop skin, as its only the shirt and pants, not the actual uniform. I mean if you guys can deal with the fact it will more than likely only work in SP, I'll get you some screenies, but it seems pretty pointless
  15. I still prefer the idea I floated a while back of having a "server rules page" appear upon logging in. You could easily X out of it, but then, if a suggestion such as this one is implimented and said player does violate the english only in global rule, then that right there would be grounds for punishment, as when logging in by clicking the X and continuing on to play on the server, that would be considered to acceptance of the rules. If you want Tosfera[/member] I can make a separate suggestion thread about the "server rules" page idea
  16. For that crown vic with the ALPR stuff, it was originally made by emergency112, I shared the link with Nick[/member] when he made the LPS cruiser, but we can't forget where it originally came from :)
  17. I'm thinking no, because as this is an english server, this would give people the impression we allow other languages in global. Plus I'm not sure, but I think something similar has already been suggested, but I could be wrong
  18. Yeah about throwing in the towel, I only have this to say: JK And honestly, just because XP doesnt get any updates (unless you know the registry trick), doesnt mean its not still great. Let me give you a few reasons why ATM's and Bank machines still use Windows XP Embedded Because its no longer supported, there are no more updates. Less chance those updates will bug your computer (it happens, trust me on that one) Because its older, its not as attractive for hackers to take out. Believe it or not, many individuals in cyber crime aren't just in it for the numbers, They are also in it for the skill it takes to pull off a hack. For them windows XP is tooo easy. They'd rather go after something like windows 8 or 10. (Thats right, come at me bitch, lol)
  19. I'm going to start us off with something wayyyy old school by today's standards. On November 20th 1985, the Microsoft Corporation released its first operating system with a graphical user interface. Windows 1.0 however was not itself an operating system, rather it was a operating environment that ran on top of MS-DOS. To be able to enter into the Windows 1.0 environment, you first had to enter the MS-DOS command to boot the system. Then you were greeted with the Windows 1.0 interface, shown below
  20. So this thread is to show things from our past that seem absolutely prehistoric today. It could be technology related, automotive related, sport related, or anything else you could think of.
  21. I've ran 3 different scans. One with Panda Cloud Antivirus. One with ESET NOD32, and then one using my Bitdefender Live Rescue disk (able to scan outside the windows environment for any malware using rootkits) On all 3 it came up with negative results, so unless the malware is using some zero-day that NONE of the vendors know about (highly unlikely as this is an older operating system), I have to conclude the files are not malicious
  22. Has this been happening since 2008? Looks like a majority of the files were created (or, at least last modified) then. I've only had the computer since march. so I would say not
